Now she is able to go to the dining room, she is able to join in the activities if she wishes. She loves bingo, and so they play a lot of that. She is also the resident council president. I can’t say enough about the Chalet of Niles. I think they are very professional, caring, and loving human beings.

It was great, but it was just really confined. They had more cameras than a casino in there. Their staff was more hands on, and food was always brought to you.

I like the administrator, and so does my mom. It is not bad; it is actually really good. It is an older facility, but they keep up on it. They just now started back up with activities.
They did not feed him or take care of him. He was in pain and when he asked for something for pain, they didn’t come and give him anything for pain. They had physical therapy and different programs on the first side he was in. The people on the other side that he was sent to didn’t need as much care as my husband. They were able to be in wheelchairs and taken for recreation and many other things.
I could not understand some of the staff. As an outsider looking in I was not happy with the staff. What I like about it is that it doesn’t have the ‘nursing home’ feel to it. It is more of a residential place even though my mom is in a skilled nursing. My relative most of the time would not get out of bed but the staff on the new floor refused to take the phone to him telling me the other floor was more lenient than there’s.
My father is in Ascension Living Saint Benedict Village. The staff is very good and very helpful. They’ve been very attentive to his needs. They were also able to set up extra physical therapy for him.
He’s in a shared room and it has all the essentials that he needs. I know for a fact that he’s been playing bingo there. They have some exercise activities for the residents. In one of the rooms, they show old movies. I know my father nicked himself or whatever, and they call right away if there’s any sort of a problem.

They do have a variety of food and it’s decent. They try to make different types of foods that people from multiple cultures would not mind eating. So there’s diversity and variety in the cooking. This spans a bunch of different ethnic groups, and they have been mindful of that.
I complained to the directors and staff that something was biting her. After doing my own investigating I found out there had been 2 cases of bed bugs in the facility. Her mattress was never properly inspected for bed bugs by the directors or staff.
It’s run by a ministry, it has the religious services that my mom needs, the website is fantastic, the dining area, and the activities for the residents. I’ve tried the food, and it’s adequate. Right now they’re limited but in every floor, there’s a TV room, a dining room, a library, and there’s a chapel there.
